Anti-Stigma
At SOOAR, we stand against stigma in all its forms. People who use substances, people engaged in sex work, and those navigating trauma are not defined by labels or stereotypes—they are our neighbors, family, and community members. We believe every person deserves compassion, respect, and access to life-saving resources without judgment. Stigma creates barriers to healing; together, we break those barriers down.

What is stigma?
Stigma happens when people are judged, blamed, or treated unfairly because of something about them—like using drugs, living with HIV, doing sex work, or having a mental health challenge. It makes people feel ashamed, left out, or disrespected, even when they are just trying to take care of themselves.

Why stigma hurts?
-
It can stop people from getting the help they need.
-
It can make someone feel alone or unsafe.
-
It creates walls instead of support.

The Truth
Everyone deserves respect, kindness, and care—no matter what.
Stigma is the problem, not the person.
