We would like to extend a very special thank you to Flagstar Bank for their generous donation to the back to school literacy initiative.
SOOAR, a 5013C nonprofit organization, was founded in 2006 to service the needs of low income, at-risk, youth and their families who reside in Van Buren Township, Sumpter Township, Belleville and surrounding communities. The Agency provides programs for youth, their families, and those who support them with respect for social, intellectual, and financial development. We are dedicated to providing the information, support, and connections that is needed to survive. Our programs also provide parents and children with strong defenses against environmental risk factors by teaching appropriate life skills for personal growth, family enhancement, and financial literacy. This is accomplished with a professionally trained staff of prevention specialist, peer leaders, and volunteers, Chris Aikens, a Flagstar employee, has spearheaded numerous volunteer efforts for this agency and our collaborative partners.
Our work is all dedicated to encouraging, enlightening, and empowering individuals, families, and communities stimulating positive personal change which leads to more productive lives.
Michigan’s budget crisis imperils our program despite its success. We seek to carry out our mission and would be grateful if you helped by donating. Funds will go directly to support SOOAR’s numerous programs for youth and families.
